A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a damaged tooth, essentially completely covering the tooth and restoring it to its original shape and size. NW Calgary Dental crowns can protect and strengthen a tooth that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.

First, your North Calgary dentist will give you a local anesthetic. Your dentist then files down the tooth that needs to be restored. An impression of the filed-down tooth and nearby teeth is taken, which is used to custom make your final crown. Until the final crown is ready, your dentist places a temporary crown over the tooth to protect your tooth. A temporary crown may not have the same shape and color as a final crown. At your final visit, your Calgary dentist will take off the temporary crown and place the final one on, making sure it’s the right fit, shape, color, and bite. If it is, your dentist cements the crown into place.
